De La Rue has confirmed that the recently issued Botswana 10-pula banknote is the first circulating note to include its Gemini™ Microtext security feature.
The Gemini™ Microtext security feature from De La Rue is an evolution of its Gemini™ ultraviolet (UV) security feature, which consists of a combination of two colour matched inks that fluoresce under UV illumination as different colours.
De La Rue have developed the UV security feature and now have three variants available, namely Gemini™ Blocks, Gemini™ Lines and Gemini™ Microtext. The three new variants were launched at the Currency Conference in 2017.
The new feature used in the 2018 10-pula banknote is hidden in normal light but when viewed under UV light the Botswana Central Bank’s name lights up in blue and yellow in microtext.
