The Central Bank of Venezuela has confirmed that a new International Organization for Standardization (ISO) code will be assigned to its soon to be denominated currency.
The ISO code “VES” will be used to identify the new Sovereign Bolivar that comes into effect on 04 June 2018, replacing the previous ISO code of “VEF”..
The Venezuelan currency is to have three zeros removed, resulting in new banknotes in the denominations of Bs.S 2, Bs.S 5, Bs.S 10, Bs.S 20, Bs.S 50, Bs.S 100, Bs.S 200 and Bs.S 500, and two coin denominations of 50 cents and Bs.S 1.
