The National Bank of Ukraine has begun circulating an upgraded 20-hryvnia banknote with improved security features.
A press release from the central bank reports that 60 million of the upgraded 20-hryvnia banknotes will be printed in total, which will gradually replace older, worn out notes.
Whilst the design of the upgraded 20-hryvnia banknote continues to feature main elements used on the prior version of the note, new security features have been introduced.
These include an optically variable ink feature displayed as a flower, positioned on the front right of the note which changes colour from magenta to green as the note is tilted. Ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) features have been enhanced, and a tactile mark aimed at assisting those with visual impairments to identify the note’s denomination has been improved.
