The National Bank of Ukraine has issued a 100 hryvnias banknote to commemorative the 100th anniversary of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917 – 1921, as well as the introduction of the first Ukrainian paper currency.
The design of the non-circulating commemorative banknote is based on the design of the 100 banknote that was circulated in 1918.
The design of the note features illustrations of a large wreath of flowers, fruits and vegetables which, a century ago, were considered to be valuable entities.
The note, being a non-circulating note, focusses mainly on illustrative elements but includes an optically variable colour changing ink feature to illustrate the note’s denomination, as well as a watermark security feature.
According to the National Bank of Ukraine, the note is 80mm by 170mm and 100,000 will be produced – 50,000 of which are in souvenir packaging.
