The new £5 banknote, called the New Fiver, was unveiled earlier this month and will be entering circulation on 13 September 2016. It is the first banknote issued by the Bank of England which uses a polymer substrate instead of traditional cotton fibre paper. The polymer substrate is Clarity™C film manufactured by British firm Innovia Security.
