Sweden has launched the remaining banknotes and coins of its latest currency series today, with the new 100 and 500 krona banknotes and 1, 2 and 5 coins.
The new banknotes and coins complete the latest currency series issued from Sveriges Riksbank, the central bank of Sweden, following the initial release of the 20, 50, 200 and 1,000 banknotes in October 2015.
The current 100 and 500 krona banknotes will be gradually withdrawn during the next few months, and will become invalid from 1 July 2017.
The Riksbank will have a press conference today from 9:30am local time, followed by a session this afternoon between 14:00 and 19:00 for the general public to exchange money for a new 100 krona banknote and a selection of coins valued at 20 krona, and visit an exhibit of the new currency series during this time.
