PWPW, the Polish Security Printing Works, have signed an agreement with the Banco de Guatemala for the production of 5- and 10-quetzal banknotes.
The Polish printworks will begin to produce the Guatemalan banknotes later this year.
According to the printworks, this latest agreement is the biggest order agreed with the Central Bank of Guatamala, with the President of the Management Board of the PWPW, Maciej Biernat, saying:
“We have been successively conquering the Latin American market for several years now, and Guatemala is already our regular partner. We are very happy about that, because export orders are an important source of diversification of the Company’s revenues,”
The 5 and 10 quetzel banknotes have traditionally used Guardian® polymer substrate. According to the press release, the new notes will be printed on a “mixture of synthetic fibres”.
