The Banco de la República of Colombia has confirmed that it will begin to issue the $50,000 denomination banknote next week, on Friday 19 August 2016.
This will be the third banknote of the new series issued by the central bank of Colombia, following the $100,000 and $20,000 issued this year in March and June respectively.
According to images provided by the central bank, the note is predominantly blue and purple in colour. It also features what appears to be SICPA’s SPARK® Live optically variable ink, also used in the prior $100 thousand and $20 thousand denominations.
The note’s design includes a nautilus shell as a see through register feature, and an optically variable windowed security thread.
Further details of the banknote will be available on Friday 19 August available from the Banco de la República.
