According to local reports, on the 7 March 2016 the United Arab Emirates Central Bank released into circulation a new 200 dirham banknote.
The new note includes tactile marks for the visually impaired, which now completes the entire banknote series following a program to upgrade the designs of existing banknotes with such features throughout 2015.
Reportedly, the new tactile features will be engraved in bleed-off intaglio printing on the edge of the banknote’s short sides, consisting of two horizontal lines.
Another feature is the use of colour shifting ink for the UAE emblem shown on the front of the note.
A 3mm metallic thread has also been included, wider than that which was used in the previous 200 dirham banknote, including text which reads “UAE 200”.
