Norges Bank, the Central Bank of Norway, has issued a press release confirming the motifs which are to be used for their new banknote designs.
8 participants selected from a competition held earlier this year produced designs, of which 2 banknote proposals were chosen: Ripple Effects by Enzo Finger, and Norwegian Living Space by The Metric System and Terje Tønnessen.
“Norges Bank is now working further on motifs and designs to enable security elements intended for the public and machine-readable security elements to be designed and incorporated into the notes. For that reason, the finished notes may differ somewhat from the basis shown above. The first of the new notes will be issued in 2017 at the earliest.”
The proposals from the competition are being exhibited in Oslo from 7 to 26 October, titled “Norway’s New Banknote Series: The Sea”.
