The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has unveiled designs for their next series of banknotes.
Named “Brighter Money”, the new notes use bright colours in their designs and will also incorporate modern security features whilst continuing to use polymer substrates.
The Bank states that the new banknote series will continue to use the same denominations, and will continue to use the same dimensions as the banknotes currently in circulation. The designs will also continue to use the “Flora and Fauna” theme which is currently used.
The images shown here are artistic renditions of the new banknote designs. The Reserve Bank is continuing to work on the final designs incorporating the selected new banknote security features.
The denominations will be released into circulation gradually – the $5 and $10 notes are to be issued in October 2015, and the $20, $50 and $100 notes in April 2016. The Bank has said new and old notes will circulate simultaneously.
