Innovia Security have issued a statement advising that the Central Bank of Mauritania has issued its new 1000 Ouguiya banknote printed on Guardian® polymer substrate.
Guardian® is now used in 78 banknote denominations, by 24 countries.
The Central Bank has reduced the size of the 1000 Ouguiya banknote to 142mm by 70mm which, it says, will make it easier to handle.
The new banknote design continues to use similar colours of blue and green used for its paper predecessor, but now includes a transparent window feature which, Innovia says, “provides the quickest and most discrete way to authenticate a polymer banknote. Secure, durable, and easy to identify, the transparent window incorporates several features that can be viewed from the face or back of the note.”
The note also includes Innovia’s AURORA® and METALIX® colour changing features and the Touch™ feature for the visually impaired, consisting of raised dots in the top left corner of the front of the banknote.
