The Central Bank of Seychelles has today issued its new banknote series, consisting of four banknotes and seven coins.
The banknotes, printed by UK banknote printers De La Rue, feature illustrations and security features depicting the Seychelles’ unique biodiversity with various common species portrayed on both the front and reverse of the notes.
All banknotes include a Depth™ image hologram patch, and Kinetic StarChrome® security thread is used on the lower three denominations. The high value 500-rupee banknote instead uses the Optiks® security thread.
SPARK® Live from SICPA is included on the 100 and 500 rupee notes.
At the launch of the new family of banknotes and coins, the central bank’s Mike Tirant, Head of Banking Services Division, said:
“We are very pleased to be issuing these new notes into circulation today. We are undertaking a wide ranging awareness and education campaign to familiarise key stakeholders with the new notes and how to authenticate them.”
