Scotland’s Clydesdale Bank has announced that its new £5 polymer banknote will begin circulating on the 15 September 2016.
The new note is printed by De La Rue on its Safeguard® polymer substrate. It incorporates SPARK® Orbital™, the colour changing ink security feature, which is printed over a transparent window allowing it to be seen from both sides of the note.
The issuance of this note follows the introduction of the commemorative £5 banknote by Clydesdale Bank in 2015. Clydesdale Bank’s CEO David Duffy said of the new note “Our £5 polymer note has been hugely popular with the public, businesses and collectors and we’re looking forward to bringing this into full circulation. We’ll also be introducing a new £10 polymer note in 2017”.
