Australia’s Commonwealth Bank has made mobile payment technology available to its customers through the release of the new CommBank app and CommBank PayTag NFC sticker for iPhone. This follows the launch of the new CommBank apps and stickers for Android and Windows 8 platforms which were released in December. The technology is also in-built in the Samsung GALAXY S4 smartphones.
Lisa Frazier, the Commonwealth Bank’s Executive General Manager, said in a statement:
“since the launch [in December] 300,000 customers have updated to the new app. All of CommBank’s mobile customers now have the opportunity to embrace the mobile wallet revolution and experience next-generation mobile banking and payments enhancements”
The Tap & Pay product enables users to use their phones to make MasterCard® PayPass™ purchases in retail stores up to the value of A$100 (around £50). The CommBank app includes balance checks, BPAY (Australian electronic bill payment system) QR code payments and person-to-person payments using a mobile number, email address or Facebook contact.
